Bangladesh Clinches Historic T20 Series Victory in Sri Lanka



Bangladesh’s cricket team secured a landmark victory on Sri Lankan soil, defeating the hosts by eight wickets in the third and final T20 International at R. Premadasa Stadium to claim their first-ever T20 series win against Sri Lanka.


Chasing a modest target of 133 set by Sri Lanka, Bangladesh’s innings was anchored by a brilliant unbeaten 73 from Tanzid Hasan, complemented by a steady 32 from Litton Das. The duo steered Bangladesh to 133 for 2 in just 16.3 overs, sealing the match comfortably.


Sri Lanka had posted 132 for 7, with Pathum Nissanka top-scoring with 46 runs. However, Bangladesh’s pacer Mahedi Hasan was the standout performer with figures of 4 wickets for 11 runs, including his 50th T20 international wicket, crippling the Sri Lankan batting lineup.


This victory sealed a 2-1 series win for Bangladesh after Sri Lanka had earlier won the first match and Bangladesh responded strongly in the second with a comprehensive win. The series win represents a significant milestone for Bangladesh cricket, highlighting their growing prowess in the shorter formats and confidence playing in challenging overseas conditions.


Bangladesh captain Litton Das praised his team’s collective effort, noting the importance of backing bowlers like Mahedi Hasan and key batting contributions at the top order.


The series also exposed ongoing challenges for Sri Lanka, who struggled to build partnerships and contain Bangladesh’s aggressive batsmen. The defeat will prompt Sri Lanka to reassess their strategies ahead of upcoming international fixtures.


Bangladesh’s success in Sri Lanka marks an encouraging sign for the team’s prospects leading into the remainder of the 2025 cricket calendar, as they seek to establish themselves as a consistent force on the global stage.

Former UK Cabin Crew Member Arrested in Sri Lanka with £1.15 Million Cannabis Haul

Sri Lankan authorities have detained Charlotte May Lee, a 21-year-old former air stewardess from South London, at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo on charges of attempting to smuggle 46 kilograms of cannabis into the country. The drugs, valued at approximately £1.15 million, were found packed in vacuum-sealed bags inside two large suitcases after Lee arrived on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand.
