Pakistan has dispatched its 23rd humanitarian aid consignment to Gaza, sending 100 tons of essential relief supplies to the war-torn Palestinian territory on September 22, 2025. The consignment, coordinated by Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with Alkhidmat Foundation, departed from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore via Egypt, bringing Pakistan's total aid to Gaza to 2,227 tons.
The latest shipment included flour, rice, sweet corn, ready-to-eat meals, cooking oil, and fruit cocktails, all critical supplies for Palestinian families facing severe food shortages and humanitarian crisis. A send off ceremony was held at the airport, attended by Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, alongside NDMA and Alkhidmat officials, demonstrating Pakistan's continued commitment to supporting the people of Gaza.
This consignment arrives at a critical time when the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, a global hunger monitor, has warned that northern Gaza is suffering from famine, which is projected to spread to central and southern areas of the territory by the end of September. The World Health Organization has also warned that the entire 2.1 million population of Gaza is facing prolonged food shortages, with nearly half a million people in a catastrophic situation of hunger, acute malnutrition, starvation, illness, and death.
Pakistan's humanitarian assistance to Gaza began in October 2023, when the first consignment was dispatched on October 19, 2023, comprising 1,000 special winterized tents, 4,000 blankets, and over 3 tons of medicines. Since then, Pakistan has maintained a steady flow of aid, with the second consignment of 90 tons sent on November 7, 2023, including food packs, medicines, and hygiene and baby kits.
The aid campaign gained momentum throughout 2024, with Pakistan sending multiple consignments including the seventh shipment in December 2023 comprising 300 tons of aid with medicines, blankets, hygiene kits, and tinned food items. By August 2024, Pakistan had dispatched its eighth tranche consisting of 400 tons of winterized tents, tarpaulins, blankets, medicines, and food supplies sent by sea. The tenth consignment in September 2024 included 40 tons of medicines and medical supplies.
Throughout 2025, Pakistan has intensified its relief efforts. The 14th relief consignment was sent in December 2024, comprising approximately 100 tons of essential supplies including bell tents, winterized tents, tarpaulin sheets, and medical tools, bringing Pakistan's total aid exclusively for Palestine to 1,478 tons at that time. By August 2025, Pakistan had dispatched its 17th consignment, with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirming that Pakistan's total humanitarian aid to Gaza had reached 1,615 tons.
The recent months of 2025 have seen accelerated aid delivery. The 18th consignment was dispatched on August 6, 2025, carrying 100 tons of dry ration food packs, ready-to-eat meals, and essential medicines, bringing the total relief sent to 1,815 tons. The 19th consignment was sent on August 23, 2025, carrying 100 tons of aid including flour, ready-to-eat meals, cooking oil, jam, and fruit cocktails. The 21st consignment reached Egypt's El-Arish airport on August 24, 2025, comprising 100 tons of ration bags, cooked meals, and fruit tin packs, bringing the total aid to 2,027 tons at that time.
The 22nd consignment was dispatched on September 14, 2025, weighing 100 tons and comprising ration bags containing flour, rice, cooking oil, chickpeas, ready-to-eat meals, and canned fruit, bringing the total to 2,127 tons. This was followed by the current 23rd consignment, marking Pakistan's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
Alkhidmat Foundation has played a crucial role as Pakistan's primary partner in these relief operations, having delivered over 4,657 tons of lifesaving relief aid to Gaza since October 7, 2023, including cooked meals, clean drinking water, canned food, ration packs, and other necessities of life. The foundation has also established educational support programs, bringing 174 Palestinian students to Pakistan for fully sponsored medical and dental education.
Pakistan's comprehensive aid program extends beyond immediate relief supplies. The country has consistently condemned Israeli military actions and called for an immediate ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access, and a two state solution based on pre 1967 borders. Pakistan, which does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, has used various international platforms including the United Nations Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to advocate for Palestinian rights.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has prompted Pakistan to expand its relief operations to include other war affected regions in the Middle East. Pakistan has also dispatched 372 tons of aid to Lebanon and 111 tons to Syria, bringing its total humanitarian assistance to the region to 2,710 tons as of recent reports.
As the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, Pakistan has pledged to maintain its relief operations with regular consignments planned for the coming weeks. The consistent flow of aid demonstrates Pakistan's deep solidarity with the Palestinian people and reflects the strong emotional and religious bonds between the Pakistani and Palestinian populations during this unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
