Seven Buddhist monks, including three foreign nationals from India, Russia, and Romania, were killed in a tragic cable car accident at Na Uyana Monastery in Sri Lanka. The accident occurred on Wednesday when a cable-pulled rail car overturned on steep tracks in the mountainous area of the monastery, crashing into a tree. The group of 13 monks was returning from religious rituals when the cable snapped, sending the cabin hurtling downhill. Two monks escaped with minor injuries, while six others were seriously injured, with four in critical condition. Na Uyana is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest forest monasteries, hosting over 200 monks and offering meditation retreats to visitors. Local authorities and foreign ministries from the affected countries are responding to the incident
